BOMBARDEMENT, one of France’s finest punk bands if you haven’t been deaf for the past 10 years (yes, 10), are back with a brand new LP entitled Dans la Fournaise and let me tell you that these Bordeaux kids did it again. As with their previous works, they are unapologetic about their obsession with DISCHARGE and close admirers MEANWHILE but dare nevertheless to send a few invites to other corners of the hardcore punk galaxy like the triumphant Japanese hardcore quarter (yes, there are hyperbolic solos) or the 80’s metal punk ghetto (especially on “Affable”). The most striking evolution lies in the narrative quality of the album. They really thought it through as a cohesive whole and as a great punk story to tell with its actual plot line. The listener was already able to glimpse at the solid interplay of the two guitars before but they do take it a large step further here, demonstrating different riffing styles, grooves and textures that manage to always rock hard and bring some sort of originality (gasp) and genuinely catchy moments on this otherwise classic metaphorical d-beat journey to Stoke-on-Trent. As an apt farewell the rather noisy eponymous closing number has Emilie from FAUCHEUSE and Cora from NAATLO SUTILA as guest vocalists. You know you want this. (Terminal Sound Nuisance)
